The subject line
[Your company] / [Their company] Examples: WayneFlow / Acme BrightPath / Summit Dental
Jesse Itzler shared this on X and says it works a lot. David Ogilvy said five times as many people read the headline as the body, and your subject line is the headline. A slash looks like an internal project between two companies, not a sales email.
We test subject lines on every campaign before we scale. In one small pilot, that testing helped get a 4% reply rate and 103 sales opportunities from 10,284 people. A good subject line gets the open. A good list and offer get the reply, and that's the system we build for clients.

- Your name first, theirs second.
- No emojis, no "free", no capital letters shouting.
- Line one is about them: their new office, their new hire, their new product.
- End with one small ask: "Worth a look?"

My company: [name], what we do: [one sentence]. Prospect company: [name], website: [link]. Write a cold email with the subject "[my company] / [their company]". First line: something specific and recent about them. Then one sentence on the result we could get them. End with "Worth a look?". Under 70 words, plain text, no emojis.
Quick answers
Does this work for every industry?
It works best in B2B, where a partnership between two companies makes sense. Test it against your current subject line on two small lists.
Lowercase or capitals?
Write company names the normal way. Just avoid ALL CAPS and spammy words.
